About the Artist: Jarid Altmark is a multi-award-winning cake artist who has been making cakes since he was 12 years old. Jarid fell in love with the artistry behind the craft and was determined to become one of the best cake artists he could be. Jarid competed in his first cake competition at the age of 14. Jarid and his mom flew a cake as checked luggage to That Takes the Cake Sugar Art Show in Austin, Texas. Having the opportunity to meet and learn from his cake idols, Jarid's gravity defying creation stole the show winning 1st place and best of the teen division. His competition bug has thrived from competing in other shows across the country, winning to his amazement. Jarid, 19 years old, now travels the country teaching his craft, divulging on his whimsically realistic creations, with a specialty in sculpting and structured cakes. Jarid has also judged several professional cake competitions, mentored by Nicolas Lodge. In 2019, Jarid competed on three major televised competitions on the Food Network. Jarid was the youngest competitor to ever compete on Halloween Wars (Season 9), Holiday Wars (Season 1), and the revival of Food Network Challenge (Season14).
